A former project manager with Reliance Mechanical Contractors is accused of charging more than $150,000 in materials and supplies to company accounts for personal use.
According to a probable cause affidavit, 42-year-old Joshua Adam Mathis allegedly had construction materials, tools, household goods, and even snacks delivered to property in Maud, Texas, where he was building a home. Investigators say the purchases were made between August 2024 and January of this year.
Authorities found around 350 invoices tied to the alleged scheme, totaling about $154,000 in losses to the company.
Mathis is currently free on a $100,000 bond. If convicted, he could face two to twenty years in prison. The case has been assigned to a district court judge in Bowie County.
