A man who barricaded himself inside a home during a standoff with Texarkana police peacefully surrendered after about two hours on Thursday.
A man who barricaded himself inside a home during a standoff with Texarkana police peacefully surrendered after about two hours on Thursday.
Police were called to a home on Forest Grove Road for a family disturbance where shots had been fired. The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Johnny Lee Kinder, was taken into custody without incident.
Kinder was booked into the Bi-State Jail on charges of Assault-Family Violence, Evading Arrest, and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm.
Authorities praised the response of officers at the scene, especially Officer Zackary Gilley, a trained SWAT negotiator who maintained communication with the suspect and helped bring the situation to a peaceful end.
No injuries were reported.
