Texarkana, Texas – A 14-year-old boy was arrested on May 26 after making a fake 911 call claiming he had killed his wife, according to the Texarkana Texas Police Department.
Emergency crews, including police, fire, and EMS, responded quickly, only to find the report was false. A dispatcher grew suspicious during the call and was able to trace the teen’s actual location, which was far from where he claimed to be.
When officers arrived, the boy admitted he was bored and thought the prank would be funny. He was arrested and taken to a juvenile detention center.
Police remind the public that 911 is for real emergencies. False calls waste resources and could delay help for those in serious need. Parents are encouraged to talk with their children about the dangers of prank calls.
