A Texarkana man has been sentenced to federal prison after admitting to possessing an illegal machinegun conversion device.
Twenty-five-year-old Jakeem Butler was sentenced Monday to 57 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to unlawful possession of a machinegun.
Federal prosecutors say Butler was pulled over for a traffic stop in Texarkana on New Year's Eve 2024. Officers searched his vehicle after smelling marijuana and found a handgun equipped with a "Glock switch," an illegal device that converts a semi-automatic pistol into a fully automatic machinegun.
The case was investigated by the ATF and the Texarkana Texas Police Department.
