Officers responded to multiple 911 calls at the Ridge Apartments on North Oats Street, where they found 19-year-old Gary Nichols with a gunshot wound. Police and EMS attempted life-saving measures, but Nichols died at the scene.
Investigators quickly identified a suspect, 21-year-old Xavian Banks, who was arrested the same night and charged with second-degree murder. He is being held at the Miller County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to call the Criminal Investigation Division at 903-798-3154.
